So Ubuntu is a Xhosa language - a word...um... It means "humanity" direct translation. So basically, um...you'll always need next person. You know what I mean? So one hand washes the other... So the one hand does need the other hand to be clean. You know what I mean. So that is Ubuntu. To help others, your brothers, your sisters, even when they are strangers and you don't know them, you are supposed to help them. That is Ubuntu.
「ウブントゥ」とはコサ語*1 の言葉でな......。直訳すると「人間性」だ。つまり根本的に......君には常に隣人が必要だ。分かるだろ？ 片方の手がもう片方の手を洗う......片方の手を洗うなら、もう片方の手が必要だ。分かるだろ。これが「ウブントゥ」だ。他人を助けること。兄弟や姉妹、たとえ見知らぬ余所者であっても、君は彼らを助けようとするはずだ。これが「ウブントゥ」だよ。
